Becoming a Member of CPPNJ

CPPNJ offers a community of mental health professionals who identify or want to learn more about psychoanalysis and psychodynamic practice.  With our introduction of two new categories of membership, there are now a number of ways that people can get involved at CPPNJ, even if they are not training or already trained to be a psychoanalyst.  We especially welcome early career therapists and professionals from diverse communities, as well as university students who want to learn about real-life psychoanalytic practice.  CPPNJ members at all levels are welcome to attend social events and become part of the institute listserv.  Here are the different ways to become a part of CPPNJ:

    STUDENT MEMBER

    Full time students pursuing graduate or undergraduate work in any field, and are not otherwise a licensed mental health professional.  Student members may attend all CE conferences and workshops for free, and may participate in committees or open study groups by permission of the chair. 

    Annual Dues:  $25

    Affiliate Member

    Licensed or license-eligible mental health clinicians who are not certified psychoanalysts and are not a candidate in training at CPPNJ.  Affiliates are non-voting members who receive member discounts on CE conferences, workshops and courses and can participate in committees and study groups by permission of the chair. 

     Annual Dues – 0-5 years postgraduate is $50; 6-plus years postgraduate is $100

    Candidate Member

    Licensed or license-eligible mental health clinicians apply to enter one of our post-graduate training programs. Candidate members receive a candidates’ rate on CE activities and course tuition.  They participate on committees and in open study groups, and are eligible for low-cost supervision.  They are also invited to join the Candidates’ Organization.

    Annual CO Dues – $40

    Full Member-Faculty

    Certified psychoanalysts trained at either an independent or affiliated psychoanalytic institute.  Faculty members can vote on all institute matters, teach and supervise in our training programs and conduct training analyses with candidates.  They receive member discounts on all continuing education activities and may participate in semi-annual Faculty Advancement Programs.

    Annual Dues: $350

    Application

    Associate Member

    Clinicians who have completed either the Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy or the Certificate in Couples Therapy (no longer available) at CPPNJ.  Associate Members vote in CPPNJ elections, may teach CE programs by invitation and receive member discounts on all CE activities.

    Annual Dues: $100
